In the wonderful Paul Newman tour de force, "The Ver- dict," his character, Frank Galvin, is asked about other cases besides the one at the center of the movie. "This is the case, there are no other cases," he retorts. Indeed, the Friday the 13th story seems to be the only story, there are no other stories. And yet below the radar, we are about to determine control of both houses of the Legislature, which will determine the success of whoever becomes governor. Are you paying attention to all those mail pieces you are getting on Assembly and state Senate races? Or tuning in to catch the latest Chrissy Mazzeo twist ? Why do I think that this year, more than any other, people will get down to these races and simply vote for their party?
