FLASHPOINT for Oct 27, 2006
Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 | 7:38 a.m.
Nevada's newest triskaidekaphobic, Jim Gibbons, has given new meaning to the fear of the number 13. This is a story that not only won't end but has become a national story. From major news outlets to major blogs to minor blogs, this is tailor-made for out-of-state folks to make Vegas jokes and for partisan bloggers to loose their conspiracy theories. I have never heard so many people say they have never seen anything like this - and I mean people who have been around politics here for decades. Everyone has a take - what he should have done, what his accuser did or didn't do, holes in stories, the electoral impact. As for the latter, Gibbons hopes that unlike Friday the 13th, Tuesday the 7th is a day to remember, not to forget.
