Shop Till You Club
Beginning November 6, Talulah G will be holding an Industry Shopping Night on the first Monday of each month, from 8 to 10 p.m. Think of it as a merger of clothes and clubs, with champagne, music and special discounts, and all hosted by different nightlife, entertainment, restaurant and hospitality folks. Up to bat first will be Light's Jake "Sartorial" Saady and Jet's Jodi "Couture" Myers. Afterward, head from the Fashion Show Mall over to Jet for line passes and free admission. And to show off your new wardrobe, too, of course.
Because Vegas Needs More 24-Hour Diners
Is it Hobos and Gypsy's (lots of homeless people on property but only one gypsy who owns the place) as in its logo that looks stolen from the House of Blues, or is it Hobos and Gypys's (as in its Craigslist want ad), or is it Hobo's and Gypsy's (one bum and a gypsy sharing a 40?) as on its MySpace page? We're not sure but it'll be attached to the Golden Palm, "the cheapest Las Vegas hotel," and will be opening Halloween night at the scenic intersection of Dean Martin/Industrial and Trop. While the MySpace site touts it as the "hottest new concept in dining," the want ad's call for a hostess/cashier strikes us as something less than cutting-edge. We just hope the health standards and food are better than the spelling.
We Knew Him When ...
We knew he was great all along. Now word is leaking out. Jack Lafleur, who holds down the decks at Body English's highly desired Parlor on Sunday nights, spun alongside none other than DJ AM at a private birthday party for Suzanne Boisvert, ex-wife of Depeche Mode's Martin Gore, on Wednesday in Santa Barbara. Is Ibiza next?
Presto Change-o
"I kept asking him, ‘Where did the straw go?!'"
— Body English bartender extraordinaire Sean Charsley on a bit of illusionist Criss Angel's sleight-of-hand in making a cocktail straw disappear. By the next night, Sean had the trick (which involves dropping the straw on the floor) down.
