John Katsilometes scans the Internet for a new radio show hosted by former Clark County Recorder Fran Deane

Fran Deane, Queen of All Media?

The former Clark County recorder, who was removed from office by a District Court judge in September, faces 18 felony counts linked to allegations that she profited financially from the illegal sale of real estate documents filed with the recorder's office while she was still with the county.

No matter.

Deane (who has pleaded not guilty to the chargers and faces trial in April) now has a radio show, to complement her new career as a photographer and reporter with the weekly Las Vegas Tribune newspaper.

Deane is the host of a new program called "In Tune With the Tribune" on AllTalkRadio. The show airs live at 9 a.m. Saturdays and is archived at www.alltalkradio.com . She was part of the media throng covering the Chrissy Mazzeo news conference on Wednesday afternoon. Afterward, when I called Deane to ask about her radio show, she said, "You can talk to my publisher. You can talk to my editor. You can talk to anyone but me." Click.

AllTalk co-owner Millian Quinteros, who launched the Internet station with George Carson (both are formerly of KLAV 1230-AM) in September 2003, was more forthcoming. "We have a partnership with Las Vegas Tribune, where we team up forces. They are the rebel of newspapers and we're the rebel of talk radio," he said. "With Fran's recent involvement with them, one of our first efforts was to get her on the air as part of that partnership."

Quinteros' "rebel" definition of the Tribune is charitable, to say the least (judge it for yourself, if you can find one). But that term certainly fits AllTalk, which because it is not an over-the-air operation, is not policed by the Federal Communications Commission, is home to all varieties of ribald content (although, as Quinteros says, "We don't go for the whole scumbag approach. There is no hate speech.").

The station's cozy studio is on the corner of Rainbow Boulevard and Washington Avenue, a small operation with a big reach (40 countries, according to Quinteros). "If someone wants to do a sex show, we won't stop that. We won't stop anyone from criticizing politicians, from speaking their opinion, and we have a lot of shows that enjoy their freedom," Quinteros said. "We have never had to pull someone for content." Or for a nefarious political career.

The venue seats only about 120 fans; a few tickets at $100 remain (call coach Skip Kelp at 612-0168). Last year the Rebels' match with the Wolf Pack raised more than $10,000 for the UNLV program, which is a club sport and as such does not receive school funds.
