Letter: Gibbons’ reputation speaks for itself
Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006 | 7:14 a.m.
Regarding the accusation of Chrissy Mazzeo that Congressman Jim Gibbons made an unwanted sexual advance toward her, I find that unbelievable and totally outrageous.
I know Jim Gibbons, and he is not that kind of a man. He is a man of integrity, and he is honest and considerate, respectful of others and loves his family deeply.
I cannot help but wonder whether Ms. Mazzeo's complaint was fabricated for personal or political reasons.
Regardless as to what reasoning brought about the accusation, any person with one iota of common sense would know that if Jim Gibbons was "like that," that behavior would have manifested itself a long time ago and would be common knowledge by now.
That such ill behavior has not come to light in the past makes me all the more certain that Jim Gibbons did not come onto Ms. Mazzeo in any way. What he did sounds more like an act of chivalry than anything else.
