You have to give the Democrats credit for melding clever- ness and goofiness. A week before Halloween, the party sent out a release saying "it's spooky" how many GOP scandals there are. They launched a Halloween-themed Web site listing GOP pols and their supposed problems. OK, that's the goofy part. But this gives them an opportunity to take the first publicly partisan shot at Jim Gibbons and his troubles. And the really clever part is that not only have they created a coherent theme - or the Republicans created it for them - but they also have listed a bunch of quotes about the GOP candidates and managed to use one from virtually every political journalist in Nevada. Now that's smart: Sucking up to us!
