FLASHPOINT for Oct 21, 2006
Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006 | 8:05 a.m.
Cowboy Tom is now Lawyer Tom. At least for the purposes of the debate over whether TV stations should be accepting joint TV buys for half of the 30-second blocks available. Democratic Party Chairman Tom Collins, who moonlights as a county commissioner, wrote a letter to TV stations this week raising legal questions about Brian Krolicki and Mark DeStefano jointly buying time. Treasurer Krolicki, running for lieutenant governor, and businessman DeStefano, running for treasurer, split the cost because they are handled by the same GOP consultant and it saves money. Naturally, this creativity upsets Democrats and so they will raise hell about it. And by the time it is resolved, one thing is for sure: The election will be over.
