Letter: Kudos to a timely report on schools audit
As a taxpayer and as a parent, I am pleased that the entire audit is available to the public. At the same time, I realize that few of us can afford the time to go through all 600-plus pages. Sun reporter Emily Richmond has made it easy for us to discover some of the opportunities that the School Board may have to improve the way tax dollars are spent on education.
Editorial: Gibbons shows poor judgment
And that says something about the man who could occupy the Governor's Mansion.
Letter: Affordability is relative for teachers
I found the concept about the affordability of "tin homes" quite laughable. It seems that these "affordable" townhomes will be selling at around the $300,000 price range as a way to lure more teachers to the Las Vegas area. Don't these planners realize that teachers (or anyone) making $35,000 a year can't afford these housing prices?
Consider all things, stations ask
Once again, it's the season of the $120 coffee cup and the $250 messenger bag.
FLASHPOINT for Oct 20, 2006
So how should the media be covering this story about a woman making charges of assault against Rep. Jim Gibbons - and then deciding not to pursue them? All I can say is - not the way we have. The ridiculous frothing and feeding frenzy shows us at our worst. It may well turn out to be the story of the year. But Woodstein did not implicate President Nixon until they had solid proof and Watergate was buried inside The Washington Post until they did. The approach here has been to go berserk - if only those resources had been ...
Jeff Haney does the math and advises against betting on Chicago to go undefeated
Several books are offering a prop on whether the Bears, who improved to 6-0 by beating the Cardinals, will be the first team to finish the season undefeated since the 1972 Miami Dolphins.
Timing crucial if case goes forward
Did Chrissy Mazzeo leave a Las Vegas restaurant less than a minute after gubernatorial candidate Jim Gibbons last Friday night? Or did she stay behind for 15 to 20 minutes, then emerge to find Gibbons waiting for her outside?
Gibbons and Mazzeo step up dispute: He issues denial, she hires attorney
Six Questions
Editorial: No need to panic
The bad news, however, is that for fish to be beneficial you have to eat it twice a week .
Editorial: Credit weakening U.S. military
According to a story by the Associated Press, information from the Navy, Marines and Air Force shows that security clearances that were revoked for financial reasons have risen from 284 in 2002 to 2,654 last year.
Letter: Comic strip shows political climate
Anyway, "Fear Itself" will be a strategy that will be used by Bush supporters to prevent a change from the direction our nation is going. Personally, if I was one of the few incredibly wealthy people in America, I would be feeling the grip of "Fear Itself," knowing that the next group of lawmakers just might not let me keep those millions of dollars in taxes I have saved under the current administration.

There's something wrong with the fish.
