Fox at Pure? No news there.
Oh, wait. We mean the network.
On Oct. 30, as part of a nationwide tour celebrating its 10th anniversary, Fox News Network is broadcasting two of its high-energy news shows from Pure Nightclub at Caesars Palace. Taking to the rooftop patio at the club will be the "Fox Report With Shepard Smith" and "On the Record With Greta Van Susteren." Smith's other Fox program, "Studio B," will originate in front of the Caesars fountains facing the Strip.
"Studio B" will air live from noon to 1 p.m., "Fox Report" airs from 4 to 5 p.m., and "On the Record" airs from 7 to 8 p.m. Those hoping to catch the action in person can begin lining up an hour before broadcast.
The network's official anniversary was Oct. 7, but Fox plans to celebrate through the middle of November.
Fox spokesman Darin Johnson said there are also plans for a VIP party on Oct. 30 for the Fox crew and members of Fox 5 in Las Vegas, meaning Pure will show its party versatility in rapid succession with events for Gene Simmons (Oct. 27, to launch his Kiss fragrance, which is said to be "playful, surprisingly sexy and incredibly unique"), followed by Van Susteren & Co.

New KVBC Channel 3 General Manager Lisa Poe-Howfield, who took over Monday for the recently retired Gene Greenberg, says growing up in Las Vegas has advantages in and out of her broadcast career. "I think the biggest advantage (for Vegas natives) is we're able to handle the temptation of gambling," said Poe-Howfield, who has lived in Las Vegas since she was 6 months old (aside from her college years at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif.). "I also think there is a deep-rooted sense of community that gets overlooked here. It seems on a weekly basis I run into someone I went to kindergarten with." That would be from Las Vegas Day School; Poe-Howfield also attended Bonanza High School and says she is not looking beyond Las Vegas. "No, this is it for me." ...
As expected, the famous Stardust sign will be shipped to the Neon Museum after the hotel closes Nov. 1. The museum received $80,000 from the sales of commemorative Las Vegas centennial license plates to finance the sign's transportation ...
You can't accuse the Pride Fighting Championships of practicing false modesty. When the mixed martial arts syndicate made plans to hold its first card in the U.S. at Thomas & Mack Center, event organizers envisioned one day filling Sam Boyd Stadium for a combined Ultimate Fighting Championship/Pride card. But Pride TV commentator Frank Trigg, who has fought in both the UFC and Pride, says his organization could one day sell out Sam Boyd on its own. "In two years, we can fill Sam Boyd," Trigg said during a phone interview this week. "The top 10 heavyweights in the world are in Pride. Once we get a foothold in the states, we will be able to do that." Sam Boyd's capacity for such an event would exceed 40,000; the Pride "Real Deal" card at the Thomas & Mack, pitting heavyweight champ Fedor Emelianenko against former Olympic wrestler Mark Coleman, is expected to draw about 10,000 ...
A few months ago Mike O'Brian and Beth Lano of "Mike and Beth in the Morning" on KSTJ 102.7-FM interviewed Steve Irwin over the phone while Irwin was filming a documentary for the Travel Channel at Mount Rushmore. When Irwin was asked what animal he most feared, he quickly responded, "Parrots. I'm very respectful of parrots ... all they ever want to do is chew you to pieces." Irwin was killed last month while diving in the Great Barrier Reef off the northeast coast of Australia after being pierced by a barb from a stingray. The interview is posted on www.star1027fm.com; hit the link to Mike & Beth ...
The Maloof brothers (Gavin, Phil, Joe and George) are starring in new commercials for Carl's Jr., but the fast-food burger restaurant in the food court at the Palms (owned by George) is still McDonald's. The brothers' deal with Carl's Jr. won't affect McDonald's arrangement with the hotel ...
The production "Shag With a Twist" is crossing the entertainment universe, moving from the alternative-themed Harmon Theater at Krave to the retro-1970s showroom at the Plaza beginning Friday night. The show's contract at Krave was fulfilled on Oct. 1, and production spokesman Michael Coldwell said producers weighed offers in a few casino venues before moving to Fremont Street, where the oddly stylish musical based on the midcentury artwork of Josh "Shag" Agle will certainly stand out ...
Another transmission from downtown Las Vegas: While driving on Casino Center Boulevard near Ogden Avenue, I found myself stuck behind a forklift lugging a giant box labeled "Milite Carpet," creeping along about 10 mph in the middle of the road. Then I parked at the Neonopolis garage (this was about 10 a.m.) and found I could not get my parking ticket validated because none of the three Neonopolis businesses able to stamp the ticket (Jillian's, Galaxy Neonopolis Theaters 11 and the Poker Dome) were open. Am I whining? ...
