John Katsilometes passes sage advice from Danny Gans along to fellow impressionist Gordie Brown, playing across the street at Venetian

Danny Gans can do a pretty good impression of a show producer.

The longtime Mirage headliner, who recently celebrated 10 years in Las Vegas, contacted us Monday afternoon in response to a question we posed last week about Gordie Brown.

Brown has set up across the street from Gans at the Venetian. Brown's show of comic impressions, which has been compared to Gans', opened last week in a new 800-seat theater.

In a message forwarded by his manager, Melanie VanBurch, Gans wrote: "My advice to Gordie is to do something unique and different that the Strip has never seen before. For example, while doing his trademark Garry Shandling impression, have a sad clown walk by while three midgets on pogo sticks juggle pink French poodles on a high wire.

"I'd also change the name of his show to Cirque du Gordie." ...

Speaking of Vegas-styled productions, on Thursday night you can buy some time with Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman when Whirlygig Inc. holds its fourth annual bachelor/bachelorette auction at Celebrity Night Club and Lounge on North Third Street, across from the dormant (and ironically named) Lady Luck in downtown Las Vegas. Goodman's "Breakfast With the Mayor" package is a highlight of this year's event, which pits men against women in a heated competition to determine who can raise the most money for Whirlygig, which stages the monthly First Friday events. The show runs from 6 to 10 p.m. and the $25 ticket price includes drinks (including house gin, we imagine). Go to www.whirlygiglasvegas.org ...

The current edition of Vanity Fair features a photo essay of country and western music stars amid flavorful settings, including a couple in Las Vegas. The magazine chose the Neon Boneyard's Silver Slipper sign for Reba McEntire and the Plaza for LeAnn Rimes (who was decked out splendidly in a sequined showgirl costume and feathered headdress) ...

Proving it is no ordinary health club, Rapid Rehab will cater to the entertainment industry with a 24/7 program that will provide limo service from the Strip to the facility at 8751 W. Charleston Blvd., Suite 270, in Summerlin. The business is operated by Scott McKay and Greg Walski, who also own Rapid Rehab in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles. The studio was a favorite of Kevyn Wynn, daughter of Steve and Elaine Wynn, who told the owners that if they opened a franchise near her home in Las Vegas, she would arrange for a fabulous opening party - which she did two weekends ago ...

The famed New York club CBGB's closed on Sunday night (Patti Smith fittingly screeched the final note) after carving a reputation over 33 years as a breeding ground for punk rock, among other hard-core genres. Next stop is said to be Las Vegas, in 2008, but no specific site has been reported ...
