Letter: Voters can pull America out of this mess
Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006 | 8:01 a.m.
After enduring six long years of the horrendous Bush administration, patriotic Americans must now take an honest look at the condition of our country.
We see the "all about oil" invasion of Iraq - a country having nothing to do with Sept. 11 - costing the lives of our courageous troops as well as thousands of innocent civilians and their children.
Medical costs are out of control with no national health care even being considered. Social Security checks are being reduced while Medicare costs are sharply increased. Gasoline prices zoom, veterans' benefits are cut, and homelessness increases at a rapid pace. Home foreclosures and bankruptcies rise and there is no increase in the shameful minimum wage. Education is at an all-time low and school safety programs are slashed by millions of dollars.
The Bush administration is solely responsible for our unsecured borders. Its "amnesty" program merely exploits both immigrants and working Americans. It only benefits huge corporations in creating cheap labor in return for their support of the Republican Party.
Loyal nonmillionaire, working, retired and disabled Americans have the power and solution to all of these problems on Nov. 7. The answer is very, very clear!
