Letter: Smoke-free business will prosper in time

It was a relief to read the musings of the owner of Hennessey's Tavern regarding the probable effect of Question 5. I, too, believe that after a few weeks or months of adjusting routines and choices, food and gaming revenues will be unaffected and probably improve.

I, as a nonsmoking patron and gaming employee, can't wait for Dec. 8 and a clearing of the air. But that would be selfish if I didn't also believe that every employee and the majority nonsmoking public will wonder why we didn't kick out the smokers sooner. Especially when business and revenues go up, not crash as the Chicken Littles predict.

Smokers' currency and credibility are flirting with zero. Separate yourself from your habit. You can gamble and drink and eat without lighting up. We do. I know you can do it, too.
