A MOMENT CAPTURED
Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006 | 7:44 a.m.
In Southern Nevada it seems like most anything you can dream is possible. Like ice-skating, on a lake, with snow, in the desert?
Last Sunday the floating ice rink at Montelago Village at Lake Las Vegas was filled - mostly with locals from Summerlin, Las Vegas and Henderson - living those dreams. "I really like the skating rink," said 6-year-old Brianna Barragan. "I think it's really fun, and this is my first year.
"I feel like we're skating on the water and nothing else. I feel like I'm flying, too, and when I fall on the ground, I feel like I have to fly, fly again."
But real snow! Well, not quite, though Brianna was almost fooled.
"I feel like the snow is really snow," she said, "and I then I thought I wanted to eat it but they told me I couldn't because it's really soap (foam)."
The rink will float on Lake Las Vegas until Feb. 15. It's open seven days a week. For more information, call (765) 206-0043.
