Letter: Free market applies to insurers, too

In Wallace J. Henkelman's Nov. 15 letter, "Look carefully at insurance industry," he points out that "the (health) insurance industry ... had profits of $43 billion last year (and) will make $60 billion this year." This is unconscionable! The new Democratic majority in Congress should immediately enact a new tax on health insurers that confiscates every dollar of dirty profits they earn. Yeah, that'll fix our broken health care system.

While we're at it, Congress should also force price controls on drug companies. We're paying too darn much for our life-saving medications! (The right price, of course, would be one low enough to ensure that no drug company will ever again invest in research and development.)
