A MOMENT CAPTURED

[email protected]

As told to Tiffany Brown, Las Vegas Sun

Fifteen-year-old Rafael Angulo was skating with friends, Randy Torres, 15, and Edward Perez, 14 (not pictured) at West Flamingo/Kenny Guinn Park on Tuesday afternoon.

I'm Rafael 'Junior' Angulo. I grew up around here. I'm a Las Vegas local and I've been skating for two and a half years. Kenny Guinn Skatepark is our hang-out spot and there is usually a bunch of us. We skate after school almost every day. (Today) I was trying a 360 flip, a 'trey bomb,' but I kept falling.

If I fall I just get back up and keep trying the trick. If it hurts a lot, I'll just rest for a couple minutes and then even if it hurts a little, still I'll just try it (again).

You get satisfaction out of landing new tricks. Especially when they're big tricks over big stuff. I just love skating. If you land something huge and all your friends are there and they start clapping for you, it's just a good feeling.
