Letter: Smokers ignore right to breathe clean air

Since Question 5 was passed, smokers have a misconception about nonsmokers.

We nonsmokers agree that the slaves to nicotine have the right and freedom to practice their dirty habit. Since, however, medical science and the tobacco companies state how harmful smoking can be, we just do not want smoking around us.

The Sun ran a Nov. 10 letter from Jacki Weil, in which she says smokers' rights are being taken away. On Nov. 12, AJ Maimbourg's letter says Question 5 strips away adult freedoms. How typical of smokers always whining about their rights, and never giving an iota of concern for the right of nonsmokers to breathe decent air.

How would a smoker like it if we carried a container of air freshener, and any time someone around us smoked, we sprayed the air around us? But that is our right and freedom.
