Letter: We all must adjust to LV’s growing pains
Friday, Nov. 17, 2006 | 6:56 a.m.
Regarding the opposition expressed by some residents in the northwest part of the Las Vegas Valley to the Federal Aviation Administration's decision to change the flight pattern from McCarran International Airport:
I can't help but laugh at all the people coming to Las Vegas because of the boom, who think that once they arrive the growth will stop! What planet have they come from? Thousands arrive each month, just like we all did, and luckily for us, tourism is going well.
I've lived in Summerlin for eight years, since arriving here from New York, and I'm in awe at how much we're growing. Every resident benefits from this world-class travel destination we call home, and to think that we should hinder the expansion of our major airport, just to accommodate some people, is ridiculous. The only people who deserve any measure of commiseration are those who've been here 30 years or more. Now they didn't ask for the boom!
