Letter: Media can’t refuse negative political ads

Frank Truitt's Nov. 13 letter, suggesting that the media should refuse to run negative political ads, overlooks one important fact - broadcast media, which are regulated by the federal government, cannot refuse to run a political ad because of its content. The next time you see or hear negative political ads, you can thank the politicians themselves for this rule. Broadcasters are powerless to do anything about it.
