Thanks to the Las Vegas Sun for the coverage on who (casinos) were the major campaign contributors to Republican Jim Gibbons. Despite a close race for governor, Gibbons emerged victorious, basking in the campaign funding of all the major Las Vegas casino operators. With politics as usual these days, he who raises/has the most money wins.
With the financial support of the likes of Station Casinos, Sheldon Adelson of The Venetian and Terry Lanni of MGM/Mirage, how can one lose? Also, one can only wonder what kind of "favors" may be extended to the casino industry by the new governor, Jim Gibbons.
Obviously the typical political machine is alive and well in Nevada.
