Letter: Problem-solving is in eye of the beholder
Monday, Nov. 13, 2006 | 7:35 a.m.
Isn't it ironic? Between 1994 and 2004, when Republicans were winning elections, there was massive voter fraud, but magically, when Democrats ran the table, voter fraud was suddenly a thing of the past. We solved that problem just by electing the Democrats.
But wait, there's more! As soon as the 110th Congress convenes, many more problems will be solved.
In just a few short months the economy will be humming along. The terrorists will begin beating their IEDs into plowshares and cutting up their fake IDs. The war will be over, we will win with honor and the troops will come home. Abortions soon won't be necessary, except in medical research labs.
The Bush tax cuts for the rich will be rolled back so the top 10 percent of wage earners finally pay their fair share. Currently they pay only 90 percent of all income taxes and they should pay 100 percent. Bush won't be able to appoint any more right-wingers to the Supreme Court.
Although I always try to be optimistic, there is a downside. Until we run Gov. Jim Gibbons, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and Sheriff Doug Gillespie out of town, a few ne'er-do-wells will smoke cigarettes in Nevada, homeless people will roam the streets of Clark County and Metro Police will continue to kill innocent, harmless people.
Fear not, though, the Democrats need only elect Hillary Clinton and the forces of evil will be vanquished. We will be living in the land of milk and honey again. Hallelujah! Don't believe me? Just read The New York Times and watch CNN.
