Letter: Question 5 strips away adult freedoms
Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006 | 1:20 a.m.
This is in reference to the passage of Question 5, the measure on the Nov. 7 ballot that strictly restricts public smoking in Nevada.
Because all of the Clean Air Act supporters won, I guess we are to assume that they will now stop breathing so they can block all of the true pollutants in the air. Right?
Now that they have stripped us of our adult freedoms by banning smoking in bars and restaurants, I would like to know why their children would be in our adult world to begin with, and also why they wouldn't just frequent and patronize those restaurants that are already totally smoke free.
I would also think that we can assume we won't be seeing any of them on our adult casino floors, since they are so adamant against second-hand smoke. Well, it will be a relief not to have them sitting next to us, waving their hands in the air to fan away our smoke as we play our machines.
I am sure they will want to strip away our last freedom, by next targeting gaming areas in casinos.
