Letter: Do we want another Bush appointee?

Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006 | 1:19 a.m.

Hats off to the Democratic Party for taking both the Senate and the House.

But beware of a wolf in sheep's clothing. Robert Gates, the man chosen by President Bush (pending Senate confirmation) to succeed Donald Rumsfeld as defense secretary, served Bush's father as deputy national security adviser.

Bush's father was neither accepted nor approved, and he was voted down for a second term as president. If Mr. Gates did not do anything for the elder Bush, why would he now be any better?

Just remember all of those Bush appointees who did not pan out and left our country worse off than before. Do we really want another Bush appointee?
