FLASHPOINT for Nov 10, 2006

Richard Nixon returned to City Hall on Thursday in front of a large group of kids. Yes, Mayor Oscar Goodman, minus Tricky Dick's 5 o'clock shadow, told the youngsters the following: "I feel the media is really askew in our community. You can't tell what the news is and what the opinion is. I have no use for them." So good for schoolchildren to hear that from a prominent public official. What specific examples did he give? None. Of course. So let me be helpful. Goodman fulminating against the media because they are not all his tools is hardly news. Goodman acknowledging his infirmities? That would be news. But here is opinion: He is the master at making phoniness look like sincerity. See how easy it is to tell the difference, kids?
