Letter: Keep track of what Porter does for us

I didn't vote for Jon Porter because I thought that in his four years representing the 3rd Congressional District, he did little or nothing for his constituents. What people should realize is that being a nice guy and a successful businessman means nothing in the shark tank that is the House of Representatives.

In the House, where most of its 435 members are lawyers, Jon Porter can't seem to cope with the wheeling and dealing, the trading of votes for favors, and the bonding with others to provide for their people, which is the normal activity there.

Representatives regularly try to get federal projects and grants for their districts (Rep. Jim Gibbons got a grant of $250,000 to repair a pool in Sparks). So what I ask my fellow citizens of his district is to keep a mental report card on his record the next two years. Then if you think he provided for his constituents, then re-elect him; if not, vote him out.
