Letter: Kerry can’t pull his foot from his mouth
Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006 | 7:35 a.m.
In last Friday's Sun, letter writer John J. Huelbig Jr. said that John Kerry's "joke" was aimed right at President Bush's head, and he was too dim to get it. Well, I am a retired Army officer with a degree from the University of Arizona, and I consider myself fairly intelligent, but when I first saw the statement by Kerry I admit that I thought it was a slight at the military. I'm sorry, I just don't get the joke as it was stated.
What Kerry forgot was the word "us" before the word "stuck." Then it would have made sense , and could have been thought a joke. When that was cleared up I still wondered how Kerry thought he could get away with making that joke, since 1) he voted for the invasion, and has continued to vote appropriations for it, and, 2) he and President Bush went to the same Ivy League college where Mr. Bush had a higher GPA.
My problem with John Kerry is that I just can't understand how his mouth continues to work when his brain was obviously already dead 34 years ago when he stood before a Senate hearing and told them every soldier in Vietnam, including me, was committing atrocities in some form. No one can begin to understand how that made us feel. I grew up in an FDR-Democrat family, and was a registered Democrat, until I found out the addle-minded people in Massachusetts had elected Kerry to the Senate.
All the speech gaffes made by President Bush don't even come close to the idiotic things John Kerry has let spew from his mouth over the years. Sorry, Mr. Huelbig, but I think you are the one out of step. Kerry may have meant it as a joke, but even he said it came out wrong.
