FLASHPOINT for May 22, 2006

So Harry Reid, the Senate minority leader who called the president a loser and a liar, can find common ground with George W. Bush. Turns out they both think a large majority of the U.S. Senate is racist. Well, sort of. Reid described an English-as-national-language amendment, overwhelmingly ratified by the Senate, as a racist maneuver. Reid was raked over the coals by other senators and conservative groups. But the president said Reid is right - at least by extension. The president, aides said, has never supported English as a national language and Bush emphasized the U.S. melting pot in a speech Friday. So Bush agrees with Reid? I wonder if the Nevada senator will rethink his position.
