Letter: We don’t need a law on language
Sunday, May 21, 2006 | 7:37 a.m.
It's appalling that the U.S. Senate now wants to have English as the national language. We've been doing fine without this change for years.
I guess the U.S. government is going to renege on the promises stated in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo when the Mexicans living in the U.S. became U.S. citizens, but were allowed to keep their culture and their language(s).
We now need a law to tell us all what language we have to speak?
