Letter: U.S. is becoming extension of Mexico
Saturday, May 20, 2006 | 7:30 a.m.
This immigration issue is getting under my skin to the extreme.
I can understand that Mexicans want to live here, but I feel that we should have a trial period.
Get the illegals who are now here to prove, within a two-year period, that they and their whole family are able to speak and understand our English language and become citizens. If they can prove this, only then will there be a quota system of the number of new Mexicans who can migrate.
If you let in whoever wants to come here, the whole of Mexico will be over here and we will be called the United States of Mexico if they have their way.
We put law-breaking individuals in jail, but it doesn't stop crime and it won't stop with the proposed immigration legislation.
