FLASHPOINT for May 16, 2006

In a development as rare as a Bob Beers tax increase, Jim Gibson received a couple of union endorsements this week. The Henderson mayor has thrown a labor nod or two out there during the last few months as Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus has gobbled up most of the union embraces. So getting the plasterers and the laborers helps Gibson defuse the "Titus has them all" message when it comes to labor. The endorsement letters from both unions are so brief and so vague that it's hard to know just what Gibson has done for "all the hard-working men and women" or "the working men and women (hard-working or not, I suppose), as the missives declare. But it's worth a news release - and a mail piece.
