FLASHPOINT for May 13, 2006
Saturday, May 13, 2006 | 7:09 a.m.
I had to chuckle when I saw congressional hopeful Tessa Hafen unveil her "Women for Tessa" this week. This is a standard trick - get a bunch of elected officials to sign on and sprinkle in a few women from the other party. So we have Assembly Majority Leader Barbara Buckley, state Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus and Rep. Shelley Berkley. Shocking, I tell you! The only interesting name on the list is Maureen Peckman, who not only is a Republican but also was Rep. Jon Porter's former right-hand woman. Peckman was ousted from the Porter inner circle a while back and now is publicly expressing displeasure that had been private. It's symbolic - like the rest of this - but her name is at least interesting.
