FLASHPOINT for May 11, 2006

Prescription drugs usually are not a source of humor, except when it comes to partisan politicking. The Democrats were first to take credit Wednesday for an importation Web site - yes, this was Assemblywoman Barbara Buckley's baby. It took the governor's office 45 minutes to follow up with some crowing - it is a state site, after all. But the funniest part lies on the site itself, where an FAQ answers the question about whether it's legal to buy prescription medicines from Canadian pharmacies. Why, yes, the answer says, because the Legislature's attorney says it is. Nowhere is there any mention that the state's highest law enforcement officer, Attorney General George Chanos, says it isn't. George who?
