Letter: Customers deserve more respect than this

Sunday, May 7, 2006 | 9:08 a.m.

One aspect of Las Vegas culture that surprised me as a new resident is that contractors and vendors are notorious for not keeping appointments. They do not give you the courtesy of a phone call if they are late or unable to come as agreed. What's up with that?

I have lived around the United States and this is the only town where this unacceptable behavior seems to be common practice. I have spoken with several long-term residents and they agree with my observations. I am forced to make appointments with multiple contractors. The first one to show up, on schedule, gets my business.

As the housing market in Las Vegas slows down, business will go to those contractors and vendors who show more respect for their customers.
