FLASHPOINT for May 04, 2006
Thursday, May 4, 2006 | 7:32 a.m.
More than six years ago, after a councilwoman's change of heart and a mayoral maneuver, Orlando Sanchez lost a City Council appointment to a newly created seat. On Wednesday he was appointed by the City Council to an even more powerful, newly created job: deputy city manager. In late 2005, then-Councilman Michael McDonald lost his bid to have Sanchez and his pal Lawrence Weekly both appointed. McDonald only got Weekly but lost Sanchez after then-Councilwoman Lynette Boggs McDonald switched her support to Mayor Oscar Goodman's choice, Michael Mack. That worked out well. But justice delayed is not always justice denied. Sanchez is in and Mack is long gone.
