State looking into Briton’s missing organs

Friday, March 24, 2006 | 7:16 a.m.

John Boorman may soon, finally, rest in peace.

The Nevada attorney general's office is now investigating the funeral home that allegedly lost Boorman's organs after it embalmed him.

"A deputy attorney general is reviewing the case to determine whether disciplinary action should be taken," attorney general spokeswoman Nicole Moon said.

A British tourist, Boorman, 29, died last summer in Las Vegas because of a drug overdose. When his body was shipped back to England, officials found that Boorman had no internal organs.

The Nevada Funeral Board looked into the allegations that the funeral home, Nevada Funeral Services, lost Boorman's organs. But that inquiry couldn't determine what everyone is wondering: Where did they go and who's responsible? So the case was sent last week to the attorney general's office.

The funeral home could lose its license if it's determined that it is responsible.

Funeral home officials did not want to comment on the investigation or the case.

"There's not anything more we can say about (Boorman)," a Nevada Funeral Services employee who declined to be identified said.
