Letter: Democrats are held in contempt as well
Sunday, March 19, 2006 | 7:24 a.m.
The advice that Gregory Grant gives the Democrats in his March 15 letter - to just sit back and let the Republicans implode under the weight of their own miscalculations, misdeeds and cronyism - suggests to me that he must be like one of those highly paid, poll-driven, wind-checking political consultants that the Democrats have been listening to since Bill Clinton.
The public holds the Democrats in almost as much contempt as the Republicans because they have done exactly nothing the past 5 years.
I attended the Clark County Democratic Convention last weekend and I did not detect "a pulse, a conscience or half a brain" (Mr. Grant's minimum qualifications) in a single one of the candidates. They are reprising the failed strategies of Gore 2000, Kerry 2004, the anointment of the usual local candidates for 2006 and the upcoming coronation of Hillary Clinton for 2008.
Isn't the definition of insanity repeating the same behavior and expecting a different outcome? That's the real choice: Incompetence or Looney Tunes.
