FLASHPOINT for Mar 18, 2006

Saturday, March 18, 2006 | 7:11 a.m.

A Nevada Development Authority-led delegation wasn't exactly greeted with open arms on a job-stealing trip to San Diego - more like begging hands and raised fingers. The San Diego Tribune reports that when spokesmodels passed out peanuts to emphasize a "stop working for peanuts in San Diego" pitch, the homeless descended. A protest featured placards with tart slogans such as: "You'd be nuts to leave San Diego for Las Vegas." And: "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas - for good reason." One Nevada brochure touted Qualcomm as having left California - even though 6,500 company workers are in San Diego County. The Nevada outpost has only 20 employees. It's a start, right?
