Regents could request up to $150 million
Members of the regents budget committee got their first look this week at the Nevada System of Higher Education's response to a request from the Legislature two years ago. What would it take to boost the quality of the state's colleges and universities?

Mr. Gorman means well but completely ignores the water crisis in the valley. He states that "his group" waters responsibly. It is impossible to water sod responsibly in a thirsty desert. Grass simply requires more water than we can spare. Half the water in Lake Mead is now gone - with little hope of immediate recovery.

Although we support the process of arbitration in these cases, we wish the outcome had been different and that police officers had been awarded more. Indeed, the real problem is how government establishes its priorities, which need changing. But changing these priorities is difficult when too many people don't want to pay for the very services that they are demanding - in this case, police protection.
