Letter: Requiring licenses for youth coaches makes good sense
Wednesday, March 15, 2006 | 7:09 a.m.
I applaud Eddie Henderson's stance on the mandatory licensing of youth club soccer coaches ("Youth coaches: License required," March 11). I have seen some of these so-called coaches in action, as well as the effects that these people, left unchecked, can have upon children.
Our children are not on your teams or serving as referees to be verbally abused by those whose unfulfilled aspirations for greatness manifest as a need to berate others for not measuring up to standards that they themselves failed to live up to.
After all, no matter which game it happens to be, it's only a game.
