FLASHPOINT for Mar 12, 2006

Sunday, March 12, 2006 | 7:22 a.m.

It's time to start the speculation. And what better place than here? It seems to happen every time an Interior secretary leaves office - the replacement should come from the West, so why not Nevada? Gov. Bob Miller's name was floated during the years his pal Bill Clinton was in the White House. So why not Gov. Kenny Guinn now? He has no other political ambitions and he has been loyal to the administration despite its hostility to Nevada. Even better, why not Pat Mulroy, the water czar who must be one of the most qualified candidates in the country? Now, I'm sure Bob Beers might nominate Rep. Jim Gibbons, but that seems unlikely. There must be other Nevadans. Nominations, please.
