FLASHPOINT for Mar 11, 2005
Saturday, March 11, 2006 | 7:28 a.m.
During the last 20 years, I have heard that a Nevada congressman (or woman) will get a prized seat on Ways and Means more times than I have heard a local politician be dinged by the state Ethics Commission. But it always seems to be a promise made by leaders during campaign season to help a member's re-election bid and then once the election is over, it vanishes. But could that streak come to an end if Rep. Jon Porter gets re-elected? He may have a better chance than most because of his early support for new Majority leader John Boehner. And my guess is that sometime during the next few months, if the past is prologue, we will hear the promise made again. And probably by Boehner here in Nevada.
