Letter: Woman sets an example for all of us

Thursday, March 9, 2006 | 7:19 a.m.

The Sun's story about the lovely lady that was feeding the homeless is very upsetting to me ("No picnic this time - woman cited for feeding too many homeless," March 7). She is doing what each of us should be doing each day.

What better use of the park where we could teach our children to care and to help others? We read and hear on television about beatings and abuse of the homeless, so now a person is trying to make a difference and she gets a citation.

Where is the compassion that we are so sorely lacking in our daily lives?

As a nation we must care. I hope that we will always do what we can because we do not know what next week, next month or next year will bring to any of us.
