Letter: Superintendent’s debut isn’t inspiring

Thursday, March 9, 2006 | 7:19 a.m.

The public has been waiting to learn what actions new Clark County Schools Superintendent Walt Rulffes might take to bolster the image and performance of our school system.

The Sun reports on just that ("Rulffes doing some Cabinet shuffling," March 7) with the information that his vision is to create additional administrative jobs.

This leads one to think the faction that had urged the hiring of an "outsider" to run the system was correct. Perhaps when this superintendent leaves in a year or two we can expect to get one with a different perspective, one less concerned with making administrative jobs easier, and more concerned with student performance.
