Letter: Accident puts SUVs into perspective

Sandra Baker, in her March 2 letter to the editor, commented that SUVs looked like "transportation on steroids." But if I'm ever in a terrific head-on crash, as my daughter-in-law was in January and who happened to be driving a mini-SUV and was saved because of air bags and a seat belt, I'd like all the metal around me I could get because the bigger and stronger the vehicle the better your chances of surviving with less injuries.
Also, I'm handicapped, and it's much easier to stretch to get up into a vehicle than to have to crunch and squeeze into one!
