Letter: Bad drivers make roads dangerous

Wednesday, March 8, 2006 | 7:24 a.m.

I tell all my friends that there are no dangerous roads - just dangerous drivers. Widening of roads and lower speed limits will reduce traffic accidents. The real problem is the nerds who believe that everyone on the road is impeding their right of way.

Interstate 15 going to and from California was widened, with a median strip, and we still have accidents occurring because of motorists who believe rules of the road are made for others.

You can change the speed limits and widen the roads, and we will continue to encounter violent and speeding motorists. If and when all motorists adhere to the rules of the road will we significantly reduce the number of accidents on any road, dangerous or not.

We could post signs stating that rules of the road violators will pay a hefty fine. Hit them where it hurts - before they hurt someone else.
