Letter: Red or blue: We all should be concerned
Thursday, March 2, 2006 | 7:19 a.m.
Bill Bohnett, in a Feb. 25 letter, suggested that anyone opposed to the havoc being wrought to this country by the current administration should simply leave the "red" state of Nevada. How novel. Instead of blue and red states, we could regress to something akin to the blue and gray of the Civil War era.
Maybe Mr. Bohnett should refresh his memory as to the rights granted to us all by the Constitution. President Bush's constant attacks on our freedoms have many who voted conservative wondering what they've done with their vote. I'm sure we'll see some of our elected officials backpedaling as election time approaches.
The "Great Uniter" promise sounded like a great idea, but failed to materialize. Obviously, it didn't work any better than "Mission Accomplished." The United States is under attack by zealots from outside our borders and greedy concerns within our own government.
Conservative spin machines try to quell our fears, but anyone with an ounce of common sense should be very concerned with current events - red or blue.
