Letter: Dixie Chicks have right to criticize Bush
Thursday, June 29, 2006 | 7:43 a.m.
This is regarding Tom Harper's June 25 letter, "Dixie Chicks have every right to speak truth": I agree with him in everything he wrote.
I feel as though freedom of speech for Americans should apply anywhere, even if we are in a foreign country. President Bush has made a lot of people very ashamed of living in this country. I was very proud of the lead singer, Natalie Maines, for saying what a lot of us have spoken about in our homes, and to our family and friends. We still love the Dixie Chicks and their music.
The June 20 letter written by Estelle Engel, "Inappropriate venue for singer's remarks," is only her opinion and that of many who are blinded by this country's leader, George Bush. We who see the truth about the way this president has brought disgrace to America will still listen and enjoy the music of the Dixie Chicks.
