Services set for taxicab safety advocate

Tuesday, June 27, 2006 | 8:37 a.m.

Services for taxicab safety advocate Craig Harris, the managing editor of the "Trip Sheet" magazine for cabbies, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Palm Mortuary Downtown, 1325 N. Main St.

Harris, who long advocated the use of still cameras in local taxis to deter robberies and assaults on drivers, died Wednesday of an apparent heart attack at age 56.

After the services, cabdrivers and others plan to gather at the Yellow-Checker-Star Transportation Yard at 5225 W. Post Road for refreshments.

Harris worked more than 25 years for that company as a driver.
