The big news is that Tax and Spending Control has enough raw signatures - 156, 254 - to easily qualify for the ballot in November. It now will come down to whether the signatures can be verified - my guess is enough will be - but the real question is whether the circulation of petitions is fatally flawed because many do not match the official version. These folks have had seven different versions, it turns out. But they are better off than the Proposition 13 folks at least. That initiative didn't qualify and organizers raised the white flag before the deadline. But someone didn't get the message and turned in signatures. So how many will the record reflect were submitted for Prop 13? Three. That's right. Three.
