In a month, we will know whether Nevada is in line to become the second state in the country to express a presidential preference. If a recommending committee selects Nevada - and the Democratic National Committee ratifies the decision two weeks later - the Silver State will suddenly be the gateway to the West for the party's White House contenders. As Nevada goes, so goes California? Who would have ever guessed that would have been the order of states in that sentence? There's still a long way to go, and Arizona is considered stiff competition with Nevada for that coveted second-in-the-nation slot. But with a strong union presence and a guy named Harry Reid, it just might happen.
