There is grotesque and then there is grotesque. After a moving funeral service Thursday for Manny Cortez, those who came to pay their respects were greeted outside the church by a hawker. The shameless huckster was handing out fliers promoting an open house a week from Sunday. There will be bands and yellow ribbons to support the troops and celebrities. At the bottom of the flier was a URL for this avatar of poor taste's campaign Web site! Outside a funeral to catch mourners! Who could be so tone-deaf, so tasteless, so grotesque? None other than ex-Lt. Gov. Lonnie Hammargren, who is running for his old job. If nothing else disqualifies him - and much does - this should.
